Blackbird the Film Opening May 10th in Canada!

I am very pleased to announce to Blackbird finally has a Canadian release date! I’ve been sitting on this info for a couple weeks, waiting for the official go ahead from Agency 71 Entertainment to share this.

Blackbird will premiere in select cities Friday May 10th of this year. The following week on May 17th it will open in more cities across Canada. 

I have also confirmed that Blackbird will be opening in France in June. No word yet on a wide US release, but details on that should follow the Canadian release quite quickly. 

Blackbird itself and the team behind it have netted numerous awards and nominations since its premier at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival: Best Atlantic Screenwriter, Best Atlantic Director, and $1500 Michael Weir Award, and Best Feature at the Atlantic Film Festival. It was also selected as “Essential Viewing” for TIFF, and the Next Wave Committee, as well as winning Best First Feature at Toronto International Film Festival. Director Jason Buxton also received the 2013 Claude Jutra Award from the Canadian Screen Awards. Blackbird was nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards: Supremely talented director Jason Buxton was nominated for the Best Original Screenplay and Kimberlee McTaggart was nominated for Achievement in Editing for her work on Blackbird.
